Jimmy, as he is commonly known, completed his MBChB in 2002.

This was followed by postgraduate specialisation at the University of Cape Town where he obtained his FC Ortho and MMed qualifications. His Master’s thesis was on Quality Assessment in Fragility Fracture Treatment.

Jimmy is currently the Head of Orthopaedic Department at Mitchell’s Plain Hospital as well an Honorary Consultant and Lecturer at Groote Schuur Hospital and University of Cape Town.

His academic and clinical interests include the following:

Osteoporosis fracture management

Orthopaedic trauma surgery

Hip and knee replacement surgery

Jimmy is married to Antoinette who is a pharmacist and they have been blessed with 3 children.
