Vincent Pallotti Hospital has a 24hr Level 1 Trauma Unit staffed at all times by trauma trained medical and nursing personnel and is equipped to deal with victims of major trauma.

Our areas of expertise include:

  • Orthopaedic treatment of polytraumatised patients
  • Pelvis and acetabulum trauma surgery
  • Limb reconstruction and lengthening surgery
  • Treatment of sports injuries and fractures
  • Hip fracture surgery
  • Paediatric orthopaedic trauma surgery
  • Osteoporosis and fragility fracture surgery

All of our doctors are actively involved in teaching and research and are widely regarded by their peers as key opinion leaders in their fields of interest. This ensures that we offer you treatment that is cutting edge, peer reviewed, evidence based and is in line with best international Orthopaedic practice. We routinely receive patients who seek our care from not only the Cape Town area and Western Cape Province, but from as far afield as neighboring provinces and countries.

We are part of the Arthrocare group of superspecialist orthopaedic practices. Our practice is supported by numerous other medical specialists including anesthetists and intensive care specialists, trauma surgeons, physicians, rheumatologists and plastic surgeons. We are also supported by a team of orthotists and prosthetists together with whom we run the Cape Amputee Clinic.

We have a team of dedicated in-house physiotherapists and occupational therapists to ensure early and effective rehabilitation of our patients.

As founding members of the Cape Osteoporosis and Fragility Fracture Centre we offer assessment and investigation for osteoporosis. Osteoporosis is usually a silent disease that may go undetected until a fracture occurs. Whilst we definitively deal with the current fracture we also investigate and treat osteoporosis with aim to prevent further fractures.
